Obituary for Esther V. Hinojosa
Esther Villafaῆa Hinojosa was born on September 13th, 1935 in Barstow, CA. She was baptized into life in Christ on January 26th, 1936 and she entered into eternal rest with our Lord on April 11th, 2022 during Holy Week.
Esther was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her husband: Manuel, and their children: Manuel III, Mark Randall, Linda, Pamela and JoAnn, six grandchildren: Jamie, John Angelo, Marcos, Alexi, John Gabriel, Maya, one great-grand daughter: Jordan, sisters Enna and Sally, brothers David and Rudy.
She is preceded in death by her parents Abundio and Erlinda Villafaῆa, brothers Henry and Isaac, sisters Soledad and Erlinda and her beloved son Mario.
Esther retired in 2004 after 20 plus years of service as head of housekeeping at the Naval Officer’s Quarters on Naval Air Station; Whidbey Island, WA. She loved her job and her co-workers.
Esther was very devoted to her Catholic faith. Prior to suffering a stroke in 2017 she worshipped at daily Mass. She loved to pray the Holy Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy, read the Holy Bible, watch EWTN, and attend Catholic conferences and prayer groups. She was always interceding for her husband, children, grandchildren, relatives and friends in need of prayer. She also, loved to cook, clean, sew and care for her family. She loved and cared for the many family pets both dogs and cats that the kids dragged in over the years. Shopping at her “favorite store” as she liked to call it, the Thrift Shop was a pass time she enjoyed.
She was a simple, humble soul, always cheerful and rarely complained. She weathered many storms of life, always trusting in God. She would want her family and friends to know she loves them very much and she will be praying for us on the other side. She would ask us to remember her with prayers and Catholic Masses for the repose of her soul.
A Rosary Service will be conducted at 10:30 am Tuesday April 26, 2022 at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 505 E. Mountain View St. Barstow, with Deacon Joe Morman Officiating
The Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am with Monsignor Tom Wallace Officiating.
Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park. 37067 Irwin Rd, Barstow
The Highlands Funeral Home was entrusted to handle the arrangements for Mrs. Hinojosa.
