Obituary for George "Corky" ""Corky"" Corkhill

George Corkhill,Jr., (Corky, Cork), 87, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at his home in Helendale, California.

George was born April 25, 1933 in Compton, California, the son of George Corkhill, Sr and Clara (McKnight) Corkhill. He married Thoranne Nilson on September 8, 1956 in Downey, California. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, two daughters, Stacey (David) Catt of Bellflower, CA and Karrie (Dale) Jasper of Lake Havasu City, Az, five grandchildren, Kevin (liz) Jasper, Bradley (Ana) Jasper, Lindsay (Paul) Hurtado, Courtney Catt and Katelyn (Ian) Pendry, nine great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Martha (Don) Pryor, and three nieces.

He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, two of the years deployed to Japan. Soon after discharge from the Air Force, he was married and then became a plumber. He loved playing many different sports. When he was in school he loved tennis and baseball. Later he became a water skier, snow skier and golfer. He and his brother, Bob, raced their Hallet Hydro boat in the quarter mile drags in the charter years of the NDBA. Many years of wonderful boating family memories were made at Lake Havasu, CA. His “baby” was his '62 Willys Jeep truck which he rebuilt from the frame up.

George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert. His family will join together to Celebrate his Life Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the family home in Helendale.
