Obituary for Gerald Reed Coddington

Gerald Reed Coddington, known affectionately as Reed to his family and Jerry to his friends, age 82, passed away on February 7, 2024, at his home in Barstow, California with his family by his side. Born on January 29, 1942, in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Bert and Ellamae Coddington. Jerry was a man of humor, intelligence, and remarkable dexterity, known for his ability to repair anything that came his way.

Gerald attended Arizona State University, until the military came calling. A proud veteran, Gerald served his country in the Navy for four years, a period of his life that was marked by discipline and service.

Following his time in the military, he continued his study of engineering at ASU. He moved to Barstow in 1978, where he dedicated over 40 years to his career at MCLB in Yermo. His contributions were both significant and valuable.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Ellamae, his sister June, and his beloved son, Brian. They have now welcomed him into eternal peace.
Gerald leaves behind Ruby, his devoted wife of 54 years, his beloved daughter, Julie, his son-in-law, Jon, his cherished grandsons, Jonny and Jeremy, and his sisters, Charlene and Sharron.

Gerald will be dearly missed but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who will forever love him.
.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in a flag ceremony and commemoration of Gerald's life on March 8, at 1:00. The service will be held at the Trinity Baptist Church on Barstow Road in Barstow.
