Glenda Lea Day (McCasland) was born in Barstow Ca on March 7, 1945.
She attended Henderson Elementary and Barstow High School. She left high school early and always felt she needed to complete her education. So, in she studied and earned her GED on April 28, 2000. She was very proud of her accomplishment, scoring in the top 98th percentile.
Glenda had a long career at MCLB, Barstow and Yermo. Her career spanned 35 years.
On January 27, 1967, she married Roy Gilbert Abeyta in a civil ceremony. 3 years later she gave birth to her first child, Michelle Renee (01/30/1970) and 6 years later Gilbert Lee Abeyta (02/01/1976). Glenda and Gilbert divorced in 1980.
Glenda met William “Skip” Day and they bought the Graystone Bar in Barstow. They ran it about 4 years. Glenda and Skip got married December 30, 1983, in Las Vegas. This union brought Skip’s son, Bill to the family. In the late 90’s Glenda and Skip adopted their grandkids William & Amber Day.
Glenda loved the desert; it was her home. She loved all animals and was jokingly called Dr. Doolittle by family. She had a kind heart and loved people. Her spirit of generosity is known by all who loved her.
Glenda is survived by daughter, Michelle Carter (Michael), son, Gilbert Abeyta, son, William Day (Mari), grandsons, Ethan (Alyssa) & Joshua Carter, granddaughter, Harley Carter (Brittany), great granddaughters, Rya Lynn Montiel, Lilliella Stormy & Madalyna Amber Day. And many friends who are like family. Glenda was preceded in death by her husband William “Skip” Day, Jr. and her daughter Amber Lynn Day.
