Lois Louise Waterhouse of Barstow died October 18, 2023 at her home. She was born March 25, 1938 to the late Clarence and Florence McNamara (Ketchum) in Meadville, PA.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband Carl, and brothers James “Jim” McNamara (Barbara), and Floyd “Bud” McNamara (Juanita), and her sister Shirley Stout (Chuck).
Lois is survived by her daughter Brenda Monarque (Stephen), sons Brian (Blythe), and Edward (Lupe), as well as nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was raised in Marion, OH with her three siblings. It was while attending Harding High School that she met and married her loving husband, Carl. The couple married on October 23, 1954 and in 1961 they moved to Barstow where together they raised their family.
Over the years, Lois enjoyed working at Calico in the 1890’s Store where she loved meeting and greeting visitors, and making friends. She also performed volunteer work with the San Bernardino County Rescue Squad Auxiliary Unit making quilts for raffles and fundraising events. Lois also volunteered as a teacher’s aide at Yermo School during the years her sons were in grade school. She loved her home and flower garden. Friends would often admire her beautiful amaryllis flowers and geranium plants. She especially enjoyed spending time with her immediate family and friends.
Several years ago Lois was diagnosed with breast cancer. She bravely went through surgery and radiation therapy and lived well-beyond the five-year cancer free mark. Her loss will be felt by the large group of family and friends she shared her life with.
